How to Avoid and Deal with Stress

Diabetes can be such a source of stress. One can get frustrated and depressed from having this condition and no wonder because it is an incurable disease. When one adds all the responsibilities involved, everything can be overwhelming. But don't despair for there are lots of support around. And I will certainly try my best to help you.

To be a successful diabetic, the most important thing is to keep a positive attitude. Do not dwell on the negative side of the disease. For example, if you have problem walking around because of diabetic neuropathy, don't concentrate on thinking how bad off you are. Instead, work hard to achieve more so that you can improve your life and the life of those around you. Of course, you have to do something about the problem. Your health care team will put you in the right direction.

Sometime, only a slight adjustment is necessary like putting all your testing supplies in one place. You will find that the small adjustments you will make will energize you to have more positive thoughts. Keep thinking of how you can make your life better and work on implementing them. Learn as much as you can about diabetes and try to put into practice what you learn. You will get lots of encouragement from others, too. Here's a website that will encourage you to have positive thoughts:

Stress

Do you know that stress plays an important role in diabetes? There have been studies where they found the following:

1. During stressful times, some agents such as drugs and alcohol may be used to quell the feeling of stress.

2. Stressful conditions may influence the blood glucose level. Severe depression may cause hormones to change the glucose level and fat metabolism.

3. Experiences that are stressful can cause changed behavior, including diet management, insulin, exercise and monitoring of blood glucose level.

Tomorrow, I will write about the topic on how to cope with stress. Meantime, please visit this site for more information on this very issue:

What to do after Learning You Have Diabetes

If you have just been diagnosed, there will be a lot of challenges facing you. First, try to learn as much as you can about diabetes. Read a lot about diabetes in medical journals and books so you can understand this disease better. Then determine what lifestyle changes you have to make to prevent diabetic complications. Since you have to deal with this condition on a daily basis, you almost have to be a medical expert to understand the ins and outs of the disease.
You have to to take special care of your body so you have to work harder, more diligently and intelligently and with more discipline than the ones who are not diabetic. Meet the challenges every day by moving more, watching the food you eat and paying close attention to your therapy be it insulin or oral medication.

My husband was diagnosed with diabetes two years ago which gave me the inspiration to study as much as I can about this condition. This led to this blogging and the website I started about eight months ago. I don't know if I will continue with that website if no one needs the information I put out, but I certainly can continue with this blogging. Just go to my website and check it out and give me your input. For the disclaimer and more information on diabetes, please go to this site:

The Why for this Blog

Why did I create this blog? Because I want to be able to communicate with the readers of my website. I think it is important that I will know what they need, the information they want. What good is my website if the readers do not want what they read? I try to put good information in my website so that those with diabetes will know what is out there but if no one needs what I write, I might as well give up.
